The site stretches over 5400 m2 of land in Jl. Macan Raya, Kota Bekasi and is on a high-density residential area of BWK Bekasi Utara. The school is set to be owned by private, having three grades with each grade consist of six classes that are divided into three programs: visual communication design (VCD), animation, and film production. There are more or less 648 students in total with about 40 teachers. Because of the differing academical requirements and user behaviors compared to the usual upper secondary education, the school is planned and designed based on the common characteristics of creative personality and on the creation of learning environment that is able to stimulate the creation of ideas and creative thoughts. From there, six design criteria are made: able to show the users’ identity, accommodate the divergent and convergent thought processes, stimulate social interactions, flexible, integrated with the green outdoor, and transparent. The final design is composed of a four-stories huge mass that is divided into four zoning with different user focus: general, VCD, animation, and film. Zones are arranged by considering the efficiency of L-shaped site, the quietness level needed for each program, and the activities so that rooms used for adjacent activities are put close to each other. The mass is subtracted in the middle to create a huge void for a sport field and a garden, both separated by a bridge for circulation. The dominating component of the building shell is the play of sun shading and window shapes on the general zone exterior. text
