For years, the vacant area has not been properly taken care of by official means and so it has been used for unauthorized vehicle parking area to this day. The emergence of the parking lot in this historical piece of land is due to the lack of parking facilities within the city square area. The site is also affected by congestion problems that occur often due to its location within the city centre. In addition, this area is also still lacking of green open space and lost one of its urban components as a commercial market space which was an important part of the Indonesian city square urban planning during the Dutch colonial era. All of these issues are solved by revitalizing the site through a mixed function design which consists of green public spaces, commercial area and parking facilities as its main functions. The mixed function project has a general concept of forest in the city. This project plan has the aim to increase more green open spaces and act as an expansion of public space to Bandung City Square. Therefore, the building designs in this project are heavily minimized and designed alongside with the landscape elements in order to expand more of the greeneries as well as create an environment that provides comfort both physically and psychologically for the public. The site project has a total area of 12 Ha and it is designed using a grid-based system based on the imaginary axis of the existing well and Alun-Alun Mosque. The project plan consists of a main building and 4 supporting buildings designed based on the imaginary axis. The main building is designed vertically downwards with a total of 5 floors. The floors in the main building are used for vehicle parking, a modern market that sells local Bandung products and a food court. While the supporting buildings function as public facilities such as public toilet, management office and waiting room. These buildings are all designed using a column-beam structure system and wide openings to bring the essence of nature inside the rooms. All of these buildings are spread out throughout the site and surrounded by green open spaces. The site project is also designed with parks and resting areas to provide outdoor activities to the public which are also surrounded with trees and plants. Not only that, the landscape design in this project is also suitable for the disabled and various local plants are used during the planning. text
