RantauBais Field is a heavy oil field which is still using primary method to recover the oil. Temporary steam injection using Huff&Puff method applied to make reservoir temperature stable to stimulate oil movement. Until end of last year, RantauBais Field has oil recovery about 2.55% from total oil reserves in this field around 240 million barrels. Enhanced oil recovery is alternative for RantauBais Field development in order to increase oil recovery. Steam flood method is one of enhanced oil recovery methods which potential to apply in this field. Integrated study of reservoir characterization should conduct to fully understand characterization of the field. Reservoir characterization study including study about facies sedimentation, high resolution sequence stratigraphy, and characterization of reservoir poperties and fluids properties. A study conducted to understand reservoir characterization of Duri “B2” sand, especially in Rantaubais Field northern area. This study will covered facies sedimentation, sequence stratigraphy, and rock properties distribution of Duri “B2” sand. Core data from five wells, 20 well logs data (gamma ray, resistivity and density), seismic data, and rock properties (porosity and oil saturation) available for this study. The study conclude that Duri “B2” sand is a incised valley fill system, with sedimentation facies as tidal channel, tidal bar, tidal sand ridge, and transgressive lag. Top and bottom of Duri “B2” sand bounded with shallow marine shelf. Result of reservoir characterization avail to answer question about variation of oil recovery performance of wells in Rantaubais Field northern area. Additional data, especially related with well production history, permeability, and fluids properties needed to more understand reservoir characterization of Duri “B2” sand. text |
