It is worsened by their lack of information, support system, and financial wherewithal. This phenomenon is regarded with Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5, respectively: reduce child mortality and improve maternal health. As for the pregnancy resource center for teenager, proximity matters. It will be the place that wraps social interaction, and privacy in a neat package, with access to facilities for daily necessities, empowerment, daycare, labour room complex, and temporary maternity homes. Environment-behavior in architecture is adopted to approach the issues which include sense of community, familiarity, and crowding. Besides, the other focus is accessibility for a positive pregnancy experience, and to maintain the tight web that connects the teenager’s privacy and surveillance. Many determining factors come into play when selecting the location. Based on Basic Health Research (Riskesdas, 2013), West Java held the highest population of unwanted pregnancy (22.8%) and abortion attempts (18.2%). Besides, the location must be close to the hospital, and can be easily approached by the lower middle class society. Thus, it will be in Jalan Sukamulya, Suka Asih, Kota Bandung, West Java, in a 6000 m2 land area. Moreover, the main idea is to make enclosed space, and combining community meaning with feminine quality. It is defined by hierarchical open space, and the mass of the facilities which form the letter ”L” to reinforce the “curvy” feminine concept. The facilities that serve different purpose will be separated and enclose the central socio-petal space. Public facilities and Labour Room Complex will be located upfront, to hide the private facilities from the onlookers. Meanwhile, semi-private facilities will be oriented to maternity homes as a “final stop”. text |
