Summary:Traditional market is a place where people fulfil their daily needs and interact at the same time. Social interaction between traders, traders and buyers, buyers, and administrators creates an identity that modern market doesn’t have. Sederhana traditional market is a big traditional market that located in city central, part of commercial area and facilitated with terminal. But even so, poor image of dirty, muddy, smelly, dark, and chaotic traditional market still applies to Sederhana Traditional Market. Second floor of the market almost never used because the trader chooses to trade within places that are not meant to use for trading, such as parking lot and the road side which causes traffic on the road. This project is a fiction project initiated by Bandung City government in partner with PD. Pasar Bermartabat to solve the problem within Sederhana traditional market by redesign. With a total of 9.205 m2 contoured area, the market has a capacity of 1.521 traders. Improvement of space quality and rearrangement within market based on traditional market characteristics with consideration towards digital transformation era needs to be done so that the market can escalate their potentials to its best. There are four main design issues about the project, which is circulation & accessibility, zoning, physical & space quality, and character development. These issues are the base to creates concept formula in purpose of making Sederhana traditional market able to attract the society, which are in line with West Java Government vision on their program to revitalize traditional market all around the province. Other than improving the physical and space quality, solution applied within the design are arrangement in circulation, accessibility and zoning vertically and horizontally to increase strategic value, creating temporary open space, creating digital market, and implementing Sundanese architecture morphology within the building.
