Description
Summary:Drug Abuse that is increasingly rampant has become a real threat to Indonesia. Despite its negative effect on its user, drug abuse is not countered by proper rehabilitation measures. Drug rehabilitation in Indonesia is faced with various problems related to law, services, infrastructure, and community stigma. Drug abuse victims are still dominantly perceived as criminals rather than people who need a medical approach to addiction. The South Tangerang Drug Rehabilitation Center was developed with Healing Environment approach that utilizes elements of nature, senses, and psychology to support physical and psychological healing of patients. This facility will accommodate medical rehabilitation using the detoxification method, social rehabilitation using the Therapeutic Community method, and post-rehabilitation programs using psychoeducation and vocational training. The operation of this facility will be managed by a community-based non-profit organization. The facility's services will include outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation for up to 90 patients in a multi-mass building with a total area of 6,000 square meters. The buildings are arranged in a circle with an centered orientation on a site of 20,000 square meters in South Tangerang City, which is prone to drug trafficking and abuse. The site is shaded and has a low noise level, ideal and in line with the attributes of the Healing Environment approach that utilizes nature and avoids environmental stressors. This drug rehabilitation center design focuses on the patient and does not respond to the surrounding site. The building mass is basically designed in a circle, following 'natural geometry', which allows a radial disposition. In its center and circumference, the mass is reduced to form a contemplation deck on the outside and an inner courtyard on the inside. The inner courtyard, equipped with vegetation, can be enjoyed on the raised floor as a space for reflection and interaction. The six transformations of the base mass are connected to the site by a circular roofed walkway following the contours of the land. In the center, there is a plaza with a pond and trees designed as a relaxation area for patients.
