INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/60694 Indonesia and Japan are countries which located in region with high occurrence rate of seismicity. Both countries have different seismic analysis and steel building design method. The purpose of this study is to analyze and explain the different aspects of seismic and steel structure design codes in Indonesia and Japan. The seismic codes to be compared are SNI 1726-2019 regarding the Procedures for Planning Earthquake Resistant Buildings for Indonesia and Building Standard Law (BSL) Enforcement Order 1998 regulations for Japan. The steel structure design codes to be compared are SNI 1729-2020 regarding Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings along with SNI 7860-2020 regarding Seismic Provisions for Structural Steel Buildings for Indonesia and AIJ 2017 regarding Design Standard for Steel Structures: Based on Allowable Stress Concepts (2005 Edition) for Japan. Both seismic and design codes are used in mid-rise (40 m) office building design with regular structure and structural system of special moment resisting steel frame. Structural analysis was conducted with 2017 ETABS software. The analysis shows that there are some differences in Indonesian and Japanese codes. The differences are more clearly found in the seismic codes of the two countries, including some parameter like building importance factor, effect of soil type, ductility and overstrength factor, drift ratio limit, and building period. In terms of steel structure design, each codes have more stringent design part and less stringent design part. But overall, the results of the seismic design of steel structures carried out in this study show that building design according to Japanese codes is more stringent than Indonesian codes for office building design. text |
