A solid dispersion ibuprofen was prepared with HPMC to increase solubility and dissolution rate of ibuprofen using wet granulation technique. Solid dispersion was prepared with ratio 1:1; 1:1.5; and 1:2 w/w. Ibuprofen was dissolved in ethanol and used for granulating HPMC. Solubility of ibuprofen solid dispersion granule (500-710 (myu)m) was evaluated in phosphate buffer pH 7.2 after 24 h. Dissolution profile of granule and tablet solid dispersion was performed in phosphate buffer pH 7.2, using paddle method, 150 rpm, at 37 C for 45 min. It is compared to tablet was prepared with wet granulation using PVP K-30 as granulation solution, market tablet, and to the pure form of ibuprofen. Solubility of ibuprofen:HPMC granule (1:1.5) increased 1.2 fold compared to the physical mixtures and pure form ibuprofen. Dissolution profile of ibuprofen tablet showed sustained release and worst result compared than market tablet but the granule showed better result than the market tablet and pure ibuprofen. text
