One of the details that get more attention is the safety requirement for the building. Many engineering has been done to fulfill the needs of this aspect. An engineering method used today is choosing stronger and more economic materials for the structures. Recognizing this demand, steel has become a material that people choose because of its price and strength. Other that choosing qualified material, structural engineering is also used to help control the damage done during a natural disaster (an earthquake). In Indonesia, connection modification should be implemented because it is one of the highest earthquake risk areas in the world. Earthquakes cause much structural damage in Indonesia because the extreme lateral load reduces the service ability of a building so it is preferable that the building designed in such a way that when an earthquake occurs, the beams break before the columns. This allows the people inside the building to escape before the entire structure collapses. To ensure that the beams give away before the columns, structural connections are modified. Because of the importance of this issue, this paper will discuss four types of steel connection modifications that promote the Strong Column Weak Beam failure mechanism. <br /> text
