INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/61221 Plastic waste is a problem that is often faced by almost every city on the coast. One of the coastal cities that has a waste problem is Cirebon. It is often found that people throw plastic waste into rivers and end up in the ocean because they are carried away by currents. Current will carry plastic to various places according to its direction and speed. This is what causes a lot of plastic waste sent from various places to be stranded. To see where the origin of plastic waste on the coast of Cirebon, this study used numerical modeling to see the pattern of current movement that affects the movement of the particles. The hydrodynamic model used in this study is the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) with tidal, current, temperature, and salinity inputs, then atmospheric data including wind, rainfall, and pressure. Hydrodynamic simulations in Cirebon waters were carried out for 1 year from November 2019 to October 2020. The verification results showed that the elevation had a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 5 cm and a correlation of 0.95. Furthermore, the trajectory model is used to determine the direction of the waste through particle movement modeling. Particles equivalent to an empty 600 ml mineral water bottle were released at Kejawanan Beach and Muara Kalijaga. If the results of the path of the particle model are compared to the path of the drifter released at the same time, then there is a difference in direction of about 60 degrees in the fourth drifter. The simulation results show that particles released on the Cirebon coast have a percentage of stranded on the Cirebon coast above 50% in the east monsoon. The particles are mostly stranded to the north from Cirebon City (Kapetakan). It can be concluded that the plastic waste that pollutes the Cirebon coast comes from the disposal of garbage from the Cirebon coast itself. text |

Plastic waste is a problem that is often faced by almost every city on the coast. One
of the coastal cities that has a waste problem is Cirebon. It is often found that people
throw plastic waste into rivers and end up in the ocean because they are carried
