Formation damage can occur in the drilling process, mud can contain many additives that go into the formation and closed the poresin the formation. One of the additives that can damage the formation is Barium in Barium Sulfate (BaSO4), if the content of this additive high. Barium is an additive that the function is to increase the weight of the drilling mud (weighting agent). In the drilling process of well X, kick occurs when penetrating the target layer, so as to handle the kick, to increase the mud weight, driller use Unibar (one of the weighting agent containing barium). With the new mud, kick can be resolved and drilling continued to the target depth. When drill stem test conducted, the results showed a very large skin values that indicate of formation damage that may be caused by the content of the drilling mud additives Unibar when resolved the kick. In this study will be discussed one of the solutions that can be an alternative to solve the problems by multilateral well. With multilateral well will get the new branch wells so not necessary to drill new wells that cost very high. In the process of multilateral well also be optimized so it wont cause damage to formations such as the above incident. text |
