INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/61507 East Java Basin considered as the biggest basin that has oil and gas reserved in Indoensia. “Paradis” field located on offshore East Java Basin in North Madura Carbonat Platform. The purpose of field development in oil and gas field is to raise the reserved number of oil and gas found and to raise the oil and gas reserve by doing reservoir characterization and distinguish the distribution of the potential reservoir. The potential reservoir in East Java Basin is the carbonate of Kujung formation especially Kujung – 1 formation. Kujung – 1 chosen as the potential reservoir because it reflects the effectiveness of East Java Basin’s petroleum system. Reservoir characterization in carbonate reservoir is rather difficult than the sandstone reservoir this is because the pore types in carbonate is rather varies than sandstone such as vuggy, moldic, intraparticle, and microcrack shape while sandsotone’s tend in grains. Because there is no XRD data to identify the pore shape, rock physics approach can be done to overcome the lack of XRD data. The rock physic approach in this research is done using Xu and Payne (2009) workflow and Kumar and Han (2005) model. Based on the sensitivity analysis, ?? and ?? are more sensitive than AI as a sensitive parameter to identify lithology and fluid content. The potential reservoir in “Paradis” field come from the porous carbonate of Kujung – 1 formation that has low ?? and filled with gas resembled from low ?? with mixed pore shape of intraparticle and micro shape. Although Kujung – 1’s carbonate has the potential to be reservoir rock because it is porous and filled with gas but the carbonate is muddy carbonate due to the carbonate grows on lagoon environment. text
