INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/61550 Access to water and proper sanitation in Bandung Regency has not yet reached 100%. Lack availability of water and proper sanitation is certainly related to public health. This research was conducted to identify the condition of access to clean water in terms of quality, quantity, and continuity as well as access to sanitation in Bandung Regency, then determine its relationship and risk factors to public health which is represented by waterborne diseases and stunting prevalence. The research was conducted in 3 locations, domestic, agricultural, and industrial areas. The research method used a cross-sectional design. The data collection method was done by distributing questionnaires with 75 samples using simple random sampling technique, and for the quality of clean water, the in-situ and microbiological parameters were tested, then all datas were analyzed descriptively and statistically with chi-square test. The results showed, sanitation access, CTPS behavior, access to clean water, and household income levels didn’t have significant relationship with the incidence of waterborne diseases, besides that, sanitation access, CTPS behavior, access to clean water, mother's last education, and birth weight children under five didn’t have significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. However, household income level had a significant relationship with stunting (p=0,005) and is included to risk factor of stunting (OR=4,000; 95% CI=1,331-12,017). In addition, there are differences of access to clean water condition, quality parameters of Total Coli (p=0,051), temperature (p=0,044), and pH (p=0,002) as well as differences in access to sanitation condition (p=0,002) in each of areas. Therefore, the government and the community need to work together in optimizing access to safe water and sanitation for all to prevent the spread of disease in Bandung Regency. text |
