POST-HARVEST TECHNOLOGY STUDY PROGRAM, SCHOOL OF LIFE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, INSTITUTE TECHNOLOGY OF BANDUNG
This study aimed to determine the effect of stocking density on survival rate and the quality of whiteleg shrimp or vaname shrimp during wet transportation, and to determine its effectiveness. Determination of the effect of storage density with three treatments of 125 g/L, 175 g/L, and 225 g/L based...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/61562 This study aimed to determine the effect of stocking density on survival rate and the quality of whiteleg shrimp or vaname shrimp during wet transportation, and to determine its effectiveness. Determination of the effect of storage density with three treatments of 125 g/L, 175 g/L, and 225 g/L based on survival rate testing, weight loss, water quality testing, and shrimp quality with proximate analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the survival rate of shrimp decreased and weight loss increased along with the increase in stocking density. The three stocking density treatments gave good results on the dissolved oxygen content, degree of acidity, content of ammonia and nitrite in the water which in these parameters, the value is still in the optimal range to maintain the survival and quality of shrimp. The stocking density of 225 g/L gave the best results in the proximate test which included the parameters of the total fat composition, protein, energy from fat, and total energy. The storage density of 225 g/L also provides the highest effectiveness in wet system transportation, which is 91.51% and provides the maximum profit so that shipping costs can be streamlined while maintaining the quality and quantity of live vaname shrimp transported. text |
