Summary: | Football has become a huge industry that is growing incredibly global. These
conditions encourage the management of a professional football club to be
managed as a company. In a good company, there are financial reports as a
medium of communication and accountability between management and
shareholders. In the financial statements of the football club, it can also be seen
how the performance of the club's management when running their club. Therefore,
financial statement analysis is carried out to assess the club's performance and
maximize performance in the future period. The COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020
had an impact on various sectors, especially the financial sector. To find out the
impact of the pandemic on the financial condition of football clubs, an analysis of
their financial statements was carried out using financial ratio analysis and
financial distress analysis using Altmann Z-score to predict the potential for
bankruptcy of the club. The samples are financial statements from 15 European
clubs for the period 2018-2020. The results are there are financially unhealthy
conditions even before the pandemic. But the situation got worse after the
pandemic. The 15 sample clubs also have the potential to go bankrupt if in the next
few years the club's financial condition is not improved.
