Description
Summary:One of the most important aspect of medicine distribution is storage. Medicine storage must fulfill theWHO criteria regarding normal storage condition. To achieve this objective, an air conditioning system is needed for medicine storage room. In this thesis, storage room air conditioning is handled by one of the passive cooling methods, liquid desiccant cooling. Dehumidifying process is done by Lithium Chloride (LiCl) solution in a dehumidifier. Cooling in the dehumidifier is calculated with finite difference method and the resulting air is used in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation as supply air on a 3D model of a 25 m2 medicine storage room. Finite difference calculation result shows that dehumidifier is able to both cool and dehumidify air by using certain input parameter. The outlet temperature of the dehumidifier has a RMS value of 14.97°C. This temperature is then used as supply air for the CFD simulation. CFD simulation result shows that the average storage room temperature is 22.34°C with relative humidity value of 49.93%. Both value of room temperature and relative humidity fulfill the WHO criteria. This result shows that a liquid desiccant dehumidifier can be used in medicine storage room air conditioning.
