The structure in nature is certainly the most efficient so it is very good when applied to man-made structures. Bamboo is one of the plants that is very strong because it can withstand bending, twisting, and compression load with a relatively small thickness compared to its diameter. Bamboo has a vascular bundle that is getting tighter towards the outer skin. This vascular bundle was reconstructed with a circular model on the cylindrical sandwich structure. The circular sandwich model is then analyzed through numerical simulations with quasi-static compression load. This numerical simulation result is then compared to the result of an existing experiment. Based on the result of numerical simulation obtained a maximum load of 71184.2 N, while the result of the experiment was 70922.1 N, resulting in a difference of 0.37%. Numerical simulation results showed that one fold occurred, while the results of the experiment showed that two folds were occurring. Two factors that cause differences in numerical simulation results with experiments are the anisotropic properties of PLA materials resulting in 3D printing and numerical locking on the sandwich circular model. In addition, the circle sandwich model can withstand a larger maximum load compared to the other two simpler models. However, the strength ratio of the circle sandwich model is still lower than that of the simple sandwich model with a difference of 106.6 kN/kg. text |

Biomimetics is a branch of science that studies the impersonation of structures or systems in nature to be applied to human life.
