This study aimed to develop the formulation and method of making film-shape soap by conducting a literature review. The literature was from Pubmed and Google Scholar search engines. The inclusion criteria applied namely, (1) journals must be available in full-text, have a PMID or DOI, and indexed as Q1, Q2, and Q3 by the https://www.scimagojr.com/ site; (2) articles from chapters in books with ISBN; (3) patent documents. The exclusion criteria applied were (1) containing unclear research methodology and results; (2) containing irrelevant information to the research objectives; (3) published under 2015 (for comparative table data). After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 61 articles chosen for the literature study. Based on the literature study, the film-shape soap formulation consisted of polymer HPMC E15 as a film-forming agent; Glycerin as a plasticizer; Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Cocamidopropyl Betaine as cleaning agent in soap; Tween 80-Span 80, Olive oil, and Ethanol as components of the nanoemulsion.
