Description
Summary:Road is one of the land transportation infrastructure that can support the increase in economic growth. Over time, the traffic load that must be served by the road can increase due to growth, so that it can cause the road can not serve the traffic load in accordance with the age of the plan, therefore it is necessary to do road rehabilitation, one of which is by overlaying. To find out the material characteristics of existing pavement based on lendutan data and CBR values using back-calculation with the AASHTO method 1993. The thick design method of layers adds to the flexible pavement in a mechanistic - empirical way, including using the Asphalt Institute method quoted in Huang's 2004 book and the MEPDG 2015. The study aims to compare overlay thickness results using asphalt institute's mechanistic methods cited in Huang's 2004 book as well as the 2015 MEPDG method with KENLAYER software for voltage analysis and strain by modeling the nonlinear elastic pavement structure. The 2015 MEPDG method in this study used local calibration of the state of Colorado. The results of the overlay thickness calculation showed a result of 200 mm in the Mechanistic-empirical method asphalt institute - Huang 2004 and MEPDG 2015. The design criteria used in the Asphalt Institute – Huang 2004 method are road structural damage models such as fatigue cracking and permanent deformation, while for the design criteria used in the 2015 MEPDG there are additional design criteria for structural conditions such as fatigue cracking there is a longitudinal cracking calculation, then there is a reflection cracking calculation and there is a functional damage model that is IRI. The implementation of MEPDG 2015 in Indonesia requires further assessment related to the validation of WIM data contained in Indonesia, as well as conducting testing in the field to obtain local calibration values with the approach of assuming the testing location based on a map of indonesia's climate zone area contained in MDP 2017.
