EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF ASTM D6201 TEST METHOD REPEATABILITY CRITERION
Detergent additive usage in fuels will impact the injector flow loss, formation of intake valve deposit (IVD), and formation of combustion chamber deposit (CCD) of an engine. The value of these three parameters can be obtained by experimenting with methods based on ASTM D6201, which covers experimen...

The value of these three parameters can be obtained by experimenting with methods based on ASTM D6201, which covers experiment methods, parameters and specifications of the test engine that must be met, and evaluation method to obtain the experiment data. The experiment was done using 4 test gasoline fuel samples, which were gasoline fuel without any additive (base fuel). These experiments were conducted to test the ASTM D6201 repeatability criterion. Furthermore, validity evaluations were also conducted in these experiments. Validation process evaluation shows that most of these validation process has been conducted and the validation process result can satisfy the ASTM D6201 criterion. Regardless, some failed validation processes were either because the validation process cannot be conducted or because the validation process result cannot satisfy the ASTM D6201 criterion. Repeatability criterion can be satisfied during the comparison of several test results. Though, in some test result comparisons, the repeatability criterion cannot be satisfied. Two factors that might influence repeatability criterion fulfillment in those tests are the test fuel storage time and oil consumption during the test period. text |
