In the field development plan, determinination of the optimum number of wells for waterflooding is usually done using reservoir simulation. But the lack of reservoir simulation usually takes a long time to find the optimum number of wells that will be used for field development. Therefore, we need a method to predict the optimum number of wells for waterflooding field development with short time. One of the ways that we can predict the optimum number of wells with sorter time is by using analytical equations. So the purpose of this study is to develop an analytical equation or rule of thumb that can be used in order to determination the optimum number of wells for the waterflooding field development. Rule of thumb is obtained by using two cases with different production rate per well is 150 STBD and 100 STBD. Each cases will compare the result of the optimum number of wells obtained from analytical equation and reservoir simulation. Analysis is performed to produce a rule of thumb that the calculations using analytical equations can be in accordance with the results of reservoir simulation. From the first and second cases calculation result, the rule of thumb is obtained through analytical equations to determine the optimum number of wells that we have to add one well for injection wells. In addition, before performing calculation with analytical equation and rule of thumb, well must be determined first with is 0.7 of average field permeability in order to apply analytical equation. From the overall results of the analytical equation, flowchart is created with the addition of the rule of thumb and determination equation. text |
