Piroxicam is classified in BCS Class II which is a compound that has low solubility and high permeability. The solubility of piroxicam is 10.73mg/100mL. This low solubility is used as the main objective in the formation of cocrystals. Multicomponent crystal is a crystalline phase consisting of two or more different molecules which at room temperature are solids that are bonded by intermolecular bonds such as hydrogen and Van der Waals bonds. Multicomponent crystal or cocrystalization is a method that often used for forming complex molecules or salts by combining two or more different molecules (different 2D structure, molecules, but not the chirality). The formation of these multicomponent crystal requires other compounds that will bind to piroxicam, called coformers. In this study, screening of coformers was carried out in silico. The selected coformer is the coformer that is often used in the formation of cocrystals. Screening of coformers using Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) software which consists of two stages, Molecular Complementarity and Hydrogen Propensity screening. The results of the screening were then compared with the results of researchers who had conducted experimental studies. text |
