According to WHO, an estimated 17.9 million people died in 2016 from this disease. One of the common symptoms of cardiovascular disease is a heart attack otherwise known as acute myocardial infarction. Indonesian plants, especially the Allium genus, have been widely used in treating various diseases. This literature study aims to collect data on plants of the Allium genus in Indonesia which have the potential as a preventive therapy for acute myocardial infarction. The literature search was carried out through the Pubmed and Google Scholar search engines with keywords and selected through certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search results obtained 21 libraries which were grouped based on in vitro tests, in vivo tests and clinical trials based on their species for analysis. Based on the results of the literature study, there were 4 plants from the genus Allium that had the potential as a preventive therapy for acute myocardial infarction, namely Allium cepa, Allium sativum, Allium ursinum, Allium tuberosum. Mechanisms in preventing myocardial infarction include lowering blood pressure, preventing atherosclerosis, reducing serum cholesterol and triglycerides, inhibiting platelet aggregation, and increasing fibrinolytic activity. Only 2 plants are currently in the clinical trial stage, namely Allium cepa, Allium sativum, which have been shown to prevent and suppress the incidence of acute myocardial infarction. Based on the safety evaluation, continuous dosing of these plants is safe for consumption and can be tolerated. text
