On the other hand, the deficit that occur from the gap between domestic oil production and consumption is getting bigger every year. Therefore, a strategy to increase oil production is required as a solution to the current deficit. Balikpapan, East Kalimantan is one of the strategic districts in supporting exploration activities and increasing the quantity of oil production. In order to support operations of refinery production activities, it is necessary to rebuild the structure of the cargo dock that serves the loading-unloading activities of ships carrying production and construction refinery equipment. This decision was taken with the consideration that the elevation of existing dock structure is no longer feasible to operate based on the applicable structural design criteria. The scope of cargo dock design consists of determining the design of general and structural elements dimensions of the dock and trestle, structural modelling and analysis, structural reinforcement design, and calculation of soil capacity. The cargo dock is designed to be able to serve general cargo ships 15,000 DWT, while the trestle designed to conform to the bathymetric contours. Preliminary design of the structure is designed based on the dominant load imposed to the structure. Based on the preliminary design, structural modelling and analysis were carried out using SAP2000 to achieve optimum results and meet the design criteria of Unity Check Ratio (UCR) in the range of 0.7 – 1.0 and the allowed deflection of the structure. Furthermore, the concrete reinforcement is designed based on the internal force of the structural elements as well as an analysis of the axial and lateral soil bearing capacity based on the bearing reaction that occurs in the structure. text |
