Description
Summary:The roots of mangrove trees are well known for their unique characteristics for endophytic microbes to live in. On the other hand, there have been so many researches that show endophytic microbes have so many activities against infectious diseases. The aims of this research are to ð??? ?± ±???í??ð® ?ð®??±?»???? ?ã???±’?????? ? ??±?±??ð?± ?í±  ??ð??®? ®?±?ð?? ? antifungal activity from the extracts of isolated endophytic microbes. This research consisted of taking roots sample from mangroves, isolation and purification of endophytic microbes using surface sterilization technique, macroscopic and microscopic identification of the isolated microbes, fermentation of endophytic microbes, extraction of secondary metabolites, and determination of antimycobacterial and antifungal activities of extracts .The antimycobacterium activity is determined against Mycobacterium smegmatis using MTT assay method, meanwhile the antifungal activity is determined against Candida albicans using disk diffusion method and broth microdilution method. There are 5 endophytic microbes that were successfully isolated and were labeled F-RZP-1, F-RZP-2, F-AVC-1, R-AVC, and B-AVC. There are 3 extracts that showed antimycobacterial activity, specifically mycelium extract of F-RZP-1, mycelium extract of F-RZP-2, and also R-AVC cells extract with their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) 100, >200, and >200 µg/mL respectively. Unfortunately, there was no single extract that showed any antifungal activity against Candida albicans in this research.
