As an anti-inflammatory, NSAIDs are usually used, but they have various side effects on the gastrointestinal tract and kidneys. In this study, a re-production of the nanoemulsion formulation contain ethanolic extract of Kesumba flower was carried out. In addition, nanosuspension formula was also produced and evaluated. In vitro studies of anti-inflammatory activity were carried out by testing the ability of formulation to inhibit albumin denaturation. In vivo anti-inflammatory activity was also carried out on male wistar rats through an acute inflammation and induced by ?-carrageenan. The results of particle size, polydispersity index, and zeta potential on the nanoemulsion formula were 96.5±8.98 nm; 0.371±0.03; and -3.3±0.26 mV respectively. Meanwhile, in the nanosuspension formula, the particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential were 296.7±8.62 nm; 0.351±0.021; and -40.6 mV respectively. The IC50 values in the albumin denaturation inhibition activity test on nanosuspensions and nanoemulsions were 218.75±27.72 ?g/mL and 237.47±41.12 ?g/mL. In addition, the inhibition of extract in concentration of 1600 ?g/mL was 34,51±3,31%. The results of the in vivo anti-inflammatory activity test showed that the nanosuspension formula at a dose of 100 mg/kgbw is better to suppress inflammation than extract. text |
