Summary:Seeing the high potential for flight activities in the future, airports in Indonesia need to have complete runway maintenance equipment to ensure flight safety. One of them is runway friction coefficient measuring equipment. This innovation is needed considering the large number of airports in Indonesia. Apart from beeing a maintenance equipment, this innovation can also be used for academic purposes as an object of research. The development of the runway friction coefficient measuring equipment is carried out in four stages, the preparation of DR&O, detailed design, manufacture of a prototype and testing. The development of this equipment is carried out trough a comparison equipment study process, as a reference for obtaining the design concept and preparation of the DR&O. The prototype testing that will be carried out is only a functional test. The developed equipment is named Runway Friction Coefficient Measuring Equipment or R-FCME. This equipment can measure the coefficient of friction as one of the aspects considered in performing runway maintenance. The measurement concept of this equipment uses a variable slip ratio, in contrast to the related popular equipments that use fixed slip ratio and side slip ratio.
