The acquisition of clean water can be done in various ways based on condition of the location and the amount needed. In general, we take clean water from groundwater. However, poor maintenance of groundwater caused the exploitation of groundwater that adversely affects humans themselves. For this reason, alternative sources of raw water are needed that can meet the needs of clean water and maintain groundwater. Pekalongan city is located on the northern coast of Java Island with a population that continues to increase every year. It is unbalanced with the fulfillment of water needs by PDAM of Pekalongan City. To meet the need for clean water raw materials, the residents of Pekalongan City make deep wells or use Pamsimas wells / community-based water management with depths ranging from 100-120 meters down from the ground. So, Pekalongan City has a total of 400 points of groundwater extraction both from Pamsimas wells and drilled wells by PDAM. The number of groundwater uptake points can lead to the exploitation of groundwater. Groundwater exploitation can trigger other adverse impacts such as land subsidence that has currently occurred in Pekalongan City. Pekalongan City Housing and Settlement Office plans to carry out vertical residential construction in the form of vertical housing to accommodate the affected residents in a relatively safe place. However, if doing new development without changing the way of raw water acquisition, it does not rule out the possibility of land subsidence and other adverse impacts will occur on the proposed site. In response to this, the author tried to conduct a water conservation demonstration for the fulfillment of raw water in buildings on selected sites. The purpose of this study is to identify soil characteristics on the site in an effort to do water conservation, to identify water conservation efforts, to identify how to develop vertical housing design based on water conservation through a water-sensitive approaches. This thesis research used the development approach of Water-sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), which is water sensitve to help water problems related to hydrological issues that occur. This approach is used because of the concept of water handling that is environmentally friendly and based on water cycle management. Research is conducted by methods of literature studies and interviews at related agencies. With the demonstration of water conservation in the development of the design of pekalongan city, the fulfillment of raw water needs through drill wells can be replaced with the results of water conservation sources. That way the preservation of groundwater on the site of the proposal will be well maintained. So that the site can avoid the phenomenon of land subsidence and other adverse impacts. Research studies on the development of vertical houisng design based on raw water needs with this water-sensitive approaches can be used as a reference material that is contributed to the Pekalongan City Government, especially the Pekalongan City Housing and Settlement Office on the proposed design of vertical housing in Pringrejo Village, West Pekalongan District. Academically, this study can be a reference material for development with a similar context regarding the needs of raw water through water conservation with a water-sensitive approaches. text |

Clean water is the most important daily need for human.
