This integrated area development model prioritizes the principle of sustainability in Cibinong. By positioning itself as Integrated City Centre, the SFC area will serve as a development catalyst that will improve people's welfare, preserve biodiversity, provide public and social facilities, and also functions as a city identity. One of the key elements that become the highlight in the SFC design is the public open space that is strategically set up across the area. However, the COVID-19 pandemic created a hindrance in the implementation of the SFC area development and caused changes in people’s behaviour as well as the principles of regional planning and design. Thus, it is fundamental to incorporate the adaptation of the new habits as suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) into the construction of the public open space in the SFC area. This study aimed at composing the principles of public open space design in the Situ-Front City Cibinong after the COVID-19 Pandemic. This qualitative study exhibits the author’s understanding of the aspects related to the implementation of the new habits after the COVID-19 Pandemic in the study site. This study carried out two research stages. The first stage involved field observation, interviews with experts related to the implementation of the SFC area, and normative formulation. In the second stage, the study specified every element, criteria and design indicator based on the study results obtained from the first stage. As the outcome, this study produced several design recommendations, including the development of a public open space design that is attractive yet adaptive with the application of the latest and sustainable technology. The public open space design is also suggested to be equipped with accessibility that supports health protocols and incorporates local identities and water elements as the main area attraction. text
