Description
Summary:A higher education institution in Bandung, Indonesia, established a school as autonomous rather than a faculty. The research focused on the overview and applicability of Performance Management in Higher Education institutions. Performance management system aims to support the higher education institutions' goals to generate a high-quality workforce and face the competitiveness of the globalization era as the center of excellence. The research objective is: Performance Management System Improvement at a Higher Education Institution in Bandung, Indonesia. The design of this research uses quantitative and qualitative methods to understand the needs of the school's performance management system. The researcher observes the informants' company situation and working atmosphere utilizing interviews as primary data and the secondary data supported with books, journals, media, and other available sources, including literature research. The data analysis is based on the result of the qualitative interview and the report data of performance evaluation conducted by the company in March 2021. The result of this research showed that the state of the performance management system at the school has been appropriate in several aspects, including the rubric used by the institution has been referencing the existing values. Managers can use this system to pinpoint deficiencies and their root causes to correct them in the future. The solution is to combine the job descriptions of each position and convert them to individual performance. Because skills are not directly observable, the organization relies on key performance indicators (KPIs). Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are the most suitable system for the school. The researcher recommends that the performance system meet the intended goals and produce a sense of fairness and effectiveness. As a result, the performance measurement must contrast the clear expectation with behaviors in the actual outcomes for the employee development.
