Description
Summary:Elaeis guineensis (palm tree) is a widely used plant for its oil. Palm oil can be used to various needs. Production of palm oil produces wastes which include the branch. The objective of this research is to utilize palm branch and made into compost, and analyzed its quality. Branch palm was reduced its size, and then either removed of lignin by soak in NaOH 1% and either not. Branch palm was composed using a bioactivator with concentration 1.2mg/g; 2.4mg/g; and 24mg/g. Composting results were analyzed of its NPK macro elements, sprout index, and other analysis related to the quality of the compost. The best result shown in the compost sample branch palm without lignin solution using a bioactivator with concentration 2.4mg/g and 12mg/g. Branch palm can be composed in an appropriate condition and the right amount of decomposing microorganism with highest P concentration 3.46%; highest K concentration 0.63%, and highest sprout index 128.
