HASAN SADIKIN GENERAL HOSPITAL BANDUNG Vania Andi, Alexandra Indonesia Final Project tuberculosis, hepatotoxic, drug-induced liver injury (DILI), DOTS, liver INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/62167 Tuberculosis is a disease that is still being a problem in Indonesia. Indonesia holds high rank in burden of Tuberculosis. Tuberculosis can actually be cured if the treatment has done regularly and by discipline. From the side effects, most of antituberculosis drugs have side effects to the liver, such as rifampicin, isoniazid, and pyrazinamide. This study aims to look at the number of the incidence of drug-induced liver injury in patients with tuberculosis at Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung and its effect on the patient's recovery time. This research is a descriptive study which has done retrospectively in tuberculosis patients began the treatment in the DOTS clinic, Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung in June 2011 until July 2012. Data was collected in January 2013 until April 2013. The method applied in this study begins with a preliminary study of the literature about tuberculosis, anti-tuberculosis drugs, regimens and their use, as well as goverment policies in tuberculosis therapy. Then the next step is to determine patient inclusion criteria, namely adult patients, diagnosed smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis, new cases patients, and patients who have completed the treatment at the DOTS clinic, Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung. In this research, a review of many sources of data such as DOTS reporting documents, laboratory data of clinical pathology laboratorium, and medical records. The collected data is processed, analyzed, and displayed as a result of the research. From 74 patient who were sampled, there were 8 patients with drug-induced liver injury. Therapeutic outcome of those eight patients was 3 people (37.5%) cured on time, 3 people (37.5%) cured with a longer treatment period, and 2 people (25%) died. Generally, tuberculosis patients with drug-induced liver injury can be cured even with a longer treatment period. Deaths that occur are not necessarily due to the incidence of drug-induced liver injury, but because these patients also have comorbidities that can lead to death. Pharmacists’awareness need to be improved because of the hepatotoxic side effects from the use of antituberculosis drugs. In addition, patients should be educated properly to be aware and careful of DILI symptoms. text
