arise causing the trend of back to nature along with the needs of medicinal plants
information delivery that fast, accurate, current and accessible. Of several previous study,
there are 151 plants of Euphorbiaceae tribe that have been researched and have potential as
a traditional medicine and there are many plants of Asteraceae tribe that have been studied
can be used as bioinsecticide (Polunin, 1980) and 15 plants of Compositae (Asteraceae)
tribe have antibacterial and antifungal activity. This research aims to compile medicinal
plants information in Android based application use Indonesian language, with
Euphorbiaceae and Asteraceae tribe as the model. Android-based operating system was
chosen because the software is widely used, has adequate feature and easy to use, a version
that can be updated, and version that can be used in several kinds of hardware, such as a
mobile phone (smartphone), tablets, and a computer with Linux operating system. The
study begins with a preliminary study that includes a review of the literature from botany
study, classification of traditional medicine and information, followed by data collection of
medicinal plant information from the literature and concluded with the making of
medicinal plant information applications based on Android and the results evaluation by
survey method from respondent. The results showed that the application was successfully
made and can be operated on a cell phone and tablet. Information components included are
the Latin name, synonyms, local names, plants descriptions, plant parts that used, name of
simplicia, macroscopic and microscopic of simplicia, chemical content, research related to
the plants, the products circulating in Indonesia and its classification, also references. Data
information can be updated by the presence of a menu updates. Based on survey results, it
can be inferred that the application is quite easy to read, the information setting is quite
appropriate in accordance with user’s desired, fairly easy to learn and use, the display is
quite communicative and could assist in the delivery of information about plant medicines
to the patients or others.
