COMMUNITY BASED KAMPUNG KREATIF PROGRAM IMPACTS ON LOCAL’S QUALITY OF LIFE ENHANCEMENT A CASE STUDY: KAMPUNG KREATIF DAGO POJOK AND CIBUNUT

Kampung Kreatif program in Bandung consisted of two types, one that was developed by the government and one that was developed by the local community. This study focused on community-based Kampung Kreatif program. Three stakeholders are involved in Kampung Kreatif program in Bandung, namely 1) Bandung’s city government, 2) Bandung Creative Community Forum (BCCF), and 3) local community. Each of the stakeholders has a different level of involvement in each Kampung Kreatif development. The objective of this research is to describe the background, goal, and implementation process of Kampung Kreatif program in two cases. It also describes program implementation result and identifies the impact on local’s quality of life enhancement. This study focused on two community-based Kampung Kreatif programs: Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok and Cibunut program. The execution of Kampung Kreatif programs is explained in three stages: 1) planning and design, 2) implementation, and 3) evaluation. There are two types of well-being, that is subjective well-being and objective well-being. This research focused on objective well-being which can be explained in three aspects: 1) health, 2) social cohesion, and 3) economy. This research used the descriptive-evaluative method. Data were collected from observations and interviews. Observations were carried out to collect data on the activities and the environmental contexts. Interviews were done with resource persons and informants that were chosen with the purposive sampling method. The result of this study showed that Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok programs were orientated towards the objectives of enhancing art activities and proliferating art studios. Their recent main concerns are the regeneration of Kampung Kreatif’s management and the provision of land to accommodate their main activities. Kampung Kreatif Cibunut programs were orientated towards the improvement of kampung’s physical environment and local’s behavior to rectify their negative image. The program consisted of governments and local’s creation. These programs had been implemented successfully until today, constantly supported by the locals. However, it also has problems with the regeneration of Kampung Kreatif’s management and the provision of their main activities accommodation. Kampung Kreatif program has been proven to have a significant role in the enhancement of local’s quality of life, depending on the background and goals of the program in each kampung. Health enhancement is significantly attained in Kampung Kreatif Cibunut, economic enhancement is significantly attained in Kampung Kreatif Dago Pojok. These achievements are in line with the program’s plan drafted at the initiation phase. Kampung Kreatif program is not a permanent solution to solve the problems faced by kampung kota, but it brings hope to the locals and convinces them that everyone has a potency that can be optimized to enhance their quality of life. Kampung kota is a place for people to grow and learn how to improve their quality of life. Kampung Kreatif program has a role in optimizing those learning and growing processes.
