| Summary: | The development in the use of natural medicine as a solution of the health problem
requires attentions and roles of young generation, especially among college students as a
representation of society with higher education. The development begins from the
knowledge of natural medicine itself. This study aimed to gain perception of the young
generation on natural medicine, especially among students who are represented by the
students of Bandung Institute of Technology. The study was conducted by using a
descriptive method through survey approach towards accidental selected sampling as well
as interviews with some samples to get a more in-depth information. Respondent's
knowledge of natural medicine, especially medicinal plants varied according to the
category of low (23.5%), moderate (67%) and high (9%). Most of students (84%) have
used medicinal plants. Knowledge on natural medicine is mainly transferred from
friends/relatives (75%). Herbal Medicines was mainly intended for curative purposes
(67,5%). The effect of herbal medicine was considered to be moderate (85%) and good
(37%) but mostly without any side effects (71,5%).
