This study details an investigation of an the enhancement adding of mefenamic acid dissolution in water from tablet and capsule mefenamic acid products by adding surfactants to the dissolution medium. The purpose of this study is to observe a correlation of the dissolution rates in three types of medium dissolution and a correlation between disintegration rates and dissolution rates. Dissolution studies were performed using USP dissolution apparatus I at 37±0,5 0 C and strring rate at 100 rpm. The sample were analyzed by spectrophotometri uv. Among three dissolution mediums, there were significant difference in terms of dissolution rate. The dissolution persentage of mefenamic acid from tablet and capsul products in the medium of pH 6,8 containing CTAB 1% was higher than that in the medium containing SLS 1%. Amount of mefenamic acid dissolved from capsule products in the medium of pH 6,8 containing CTAB 1% was not significanly different than that of the medium of pH 9,0 containing SLS 1%. Collectively, the use of 1% w/v CTAB in dissolution medium of pH 6,8 exhibits higher result than the use of 1% w/v SLS. There were a good correlation between dissolution profile in the use of medium of pH 9,0 containing SLS 1% and the medium pH 6,8 containing CTAB 1%, disintegration rates with dissolution rates. text
