Summary: | Innovation is a broad term that encompasses improvements in new and existing systems and new ideas for achieving business objectives, which comes as an essential tool to adapt in the current circumstances. It is also reinforced by employees, who act as the main driving force of innovation by sharing their brilliant ideas for company’s growth. In addition, corporate culture also takes part in fostering the company's innovation. Corporate culture becomes an essential matter for every company. As one of Forbes's list of the world's most innovative companies in 2013, PT.X also agrees that corporate culture becomes an essential part of their innovation. PT.X always endeavors to empower the employees. Their primary purpose is to satisfy the customer's demand and push the company's limit for innovation by involving the corporate culture. Thus, it drives the researcher's curiosity to have research in PT.X.
This study started by finding out the dominant corporate culture in the company and how exactly the corporate culture and innovation potential indicators support innovation in the company. This study aims to provide insights and valuable improvements that can be adapted by other companies in the manufacturing sector and the research object itself. Through the theory of organizational culture index, organizational-context levers, and innovation potential indicators. This research is presented using a qualitative analysis method by two techniques of data collection: interview and secondary data.
The results indicate that the dominant culture of innovative and its existing innovation system and methodology already support the company's innovation. Even though there has been a structured innovation system and an innovative culture, both company and employees still have a low eagerness to innovate since they are too dependent on the work procedures and structured system. In conclusion, this research is expected to be an evaluation material for the employees’ behavior towards innovation that occurs in PT.X and give a valuable recommendation for other companies in the manufacturing sector. |
