The toll road is 131.5 km long and has a main line width of 3.6 meters for each lane. What's interesting about the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road is that apart from being intended for four-wheeled vehicles or more, there are also five Elephant Crossing Underpasses. This underpass is prepared for the roaming path of elephants whose habitat is in Bengkalis Regency. The Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road can accommodate a vehicle volume of approximately 6,900 vehicles per day. Users will be able to rest in 10 rest areas along the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road, which is currently still in the completion stage of construction. The one that has more potential than 10 existing rest areas is the rest area located at Km 14 which is located adjacent to the Elephant Training Center in Minas which is only 2 Km away. This location will later be chosen as a rest area that is not only functional but also has recreational value to unwind for users of the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road rest area. Data collection methods were carried out through field surveys, literature studies, interviews and questionnaires to determine the preferences of visitors to the rest area. The design scheme for the Pekanbaru-Dumai Km 14 rest area uses the concept of recreation and tourism with a visitor experience design approach. The concept of recreation and tourism has three forming elements, namely modern, tourism, and refreshing. Modern consists of modern, attractive, clean, comfortable, shady, simple designs, and has facilities in the form of rest areas and lodging. Tours in the form of outbound areas, waterparks, Europeanstyle buildings, and elephant training. Refreshing in the form of a beautiful botanical garden, education, relaxing, and resting. Visitor experiences will be experienced by visitors in the form of physical, sensory, hedonic, emotional, realational, restorative, and cognitive experiences. It is hoped that this research will be able to help improve the image of the Pekanbaru-Dumai area with the existence of this rest area and the realization of the construction of a rest area with a tourism experience that can increase the level of visits to this rest area. text
