Summary: | The coffee farming community in Gunung Geulis has planted arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) in an area of approximately 20 hectares. The location of coffee cultivation is at an altitude of 800-900 m above sea level. Cultivated coffee plants are found in open land and shaded areas of other plants such as mahogany, pine, and banana plants. Coffee production varies depending on the field conditions where the coffee is grown. This study aims to determine the effect of shade on the growth and production of coffee grown in Gunung Geulis. The research was carried out in June – August 2021 in the coffee garden of the Gunung Geulis Coffee Farmer Community, Jatiroke Village, Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency. This research was conducted in four shaded conditions for coffee plants, namely (1) without shade, (2) shaded by mahogany, (3) shaded by pine and (4) shaded by bananas. The parameters measured consisted of vegetative growth (plant height, number of primary branches, stem diameter, crown diameter, distance between branches, number of leaves) and generative (coffee fruit harvest production). The results of data analysis showed that the type of shade significantly affected the production of coffee cherries and coffee plant growth parameters, except for the stem diameter parameter. The production of coffee fruit yields on coffee plants under the shade of mahogany trees has the highest value compared to the shaded type of banana plants, pine trees and without shade, with values of 1.47 kg/tree, 0.91 kg/tree, respectively, 0.93kg/tree, and 0.65 kg/tree.,
