Sukarwan Collection is a garment manufacturer in the MSME sector that specializes in making men's shirts. As a manufacturer that still utilizes human labor in carrying out its production process, several indications of poor ergonomic work designs were found in the Sukarwan Collection, such as unnatural postures from the workers and working hours that exceed normal working hours limit. The Minister of Manpower Regulation Implementation Guidelines Number 5 of 2018 is being used as a tool to identify the existing ergonomic risk factors in Sukarwan Collection. This study is conducted based on the process flowchart listed in the guidelines. First, the process of the study began by collecting musculoskeletal disorders complaints from employees and observing the tools and workstations using the survey sheet provided in the guidelines. The next step is to assess the level of potential ergonomic risk in each workstation and the result from the assessment is used to generate recommendations to improve the overall working condition in Sukarwan Collection. The assessment result shows that the score of potential ergonomic risk in every workstations exceeds the limit given by the guidelines. These high scores are generally caused by the poorly designed workstation and equipment, causing awkward working postures such as neck flexion and forward body bending. Some improvements are proposed to reduce the ergonomic risks for workers, such as changing the design of the work station and adding several facilities like chairs with backrests and bright lamps to meet the lighting standards.
