The success of implementing knowledge management cannot be separated from the existence of knowledge sharing that is applied in the company field. One of the knowledge sharing that can be done is community of practices (CoP) to improve employee knowledge skills and capture knowledge competencies possessed by employees so that they can produce innovations and developments for the company. At PT. XYZ 80% of KM activities are carried out with CoP but it is considered not effective and has a big impact on the company. This study aims to identify the causes of the ineffectiveness of CoP activities at PT. XYZ and find a solution to overcome the cause. In identifying the problem, it is done by interviewing related parties in the company and document review as supporting data. The interview aims to find out knowledge mapping, the process of knowledge transfer in CoP, obstacles and supporting factors of CoP. The document review aims to seek feedback from employees regarding the CoP that has been implemented. Based on the analysis, the root cause of the problem of the ineffectiveness of CoP at PT. XYZ is the lack of involvement of top management in sharing knowledge, while from the document review it can be concluded that CoP activities have been very beneficial for employees, interest in participating in it is increasing but not yet effective because it has not been able to have a maximum impact on employee performance. The most important solution to overcome the causes of the problem is to make leaders more active to be involved in managing knowledge so that CoP can be better implemented, besides that CoP workshops can also be carried out to improve the quality of CoP implementation and make CoP conclusion media so that CoP results can be known more widely employees and easier to understand. text
