Description
Summary:Palu is an area with a farily complex geology and tectonic due to the confluence of three plates namely Eurasian, Indo-Austalia, and Pasific plates. One of the result of this confluence is a fault named Palu-Koro. This fault categorized as an active fault. Palu-Donggala earthquake that happened in 28 September 2018 was due to Palu-Koro fault movement. This research using Ambient Noise Tomography method to get the geology condition of Palu region based on group velocity map and variation of Vs beneath the Palu region. This research using seismic recording data from February – May 2015. Data are then cross-correlated to get Green’s Function. Using frequency-time analysis to the green’s function later to get group velocity map. By doing inversion will get a better interpretation because there will be variation of Vs towards depth. Inversion done by RR-PSO method. From group velocity map it can be seen that there are differences anomaly between east and west parts area of study. It can be interpreted as Palu-Koro fault. While Vs velocity structure shows a layer of sediment almost all across Palu with thickness up to 0.5 – 1 km
