Summary: | Eccentrically Braced Frames/EBF is one of the earthquake-resistant structure systems which has good performance in lateral stiffness, ductility, and earthquake energy dissipation ability through link beam element. Link beam is designed to undergo yielding while the other structural elements are still in elastic condition. One of the parts that affect the link beam performance is its connection. This study investigate the behavior connection system in replaceable shear link beam using the shear key. The experimental study is carried out by conducting cyclic loading to two speciments of link beam with four M22 bolts and three shear keys in its connection configuration. The cyclic test is done with an experimental setup with full-scale scaling using cyclic loading provision in accordance with AISC 341-16. The parameters in this experiment are ductility, energy dissipation, and stiffness degradation. The experimental study results show the damage occured in the link beam while there is no indication of failure in the other structural elements. The maximum load on specimen I is 587.26 kN with a rotation angle of 0.086 rad, while in specimen II, the maximum load is 535.13 kN with a rotation angle of 0.041 rad. The overstrength factor parameter from both test objects is 1.56. The result indicates that the shear key in sustained 86% of the total shear force carried by the link. The study also indicates the replaceability of the link beam which is shown by the good condition of the experiment setup and no geometry changes nor yielding in other element, so that the damaged link can be easily replaced. |
