Summary: | Water quality management is an obligation that must be carried out by every mining
business. The construction of settling ponds as water quality treatment infrastructure is
one of the efforts made in order to ensure the water quality standards. Pond construction
projects are commonly delayed and require additional costs to complete, while the mining
process is critical dependent on the availability of settling ponds on the downstream. This
condition is the background of the study.
The iron triangle principle, which includes punctuality, cost effectiveness and quality
meets standards is a parameter commonly used to determine the success of a project. A
qualitative approach is applied to solve the problem and current reality tree as root cause
analysis method. The absence of a comprehensive risk analysis at the beginning is the
cause of the project not being completed on time and requiring additional costs so that it
is categorized as unsuccessful. The unavailability of factual data on field conditions due
to limited resources also contributed to the project failure.
Result and conclusion of the study are implementation of risk management by conducting
a risk analysis at the beginning of the project will explore all potential risks that occur
during the development process. The identified risks will be treated in order to yield
residual risks with lesser consequences and opportunities. Furthermore, the provision of
special resources to complete the data in the planning process and the creation of a data
center related to the summary and evaluation of completed projects can be developed for
the effectiveness of settling pond construction project as a water quality treatment
infrastructure. |
