Based on the the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) results, it has been found that Indonesian students have low critical, creative, collaborative thinking skills, and problem-solving skills, especially in the applied field. One learning model that allow the practice of twenty-first century skills is STEM teaching and learning, but the limitations of learning media are an obstacle to implementing this learning model. To support the skill needs and the achievement of competencies in the current curriculum, it is necessary to develop STEM-based learning media. This final project research aims to develop a prototype of a micro hydro power plant (MHP) as STEM-based learning media that can be used in teaching physics. This can help students to improve critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, collaboration skills, and the ability to apply the theories and analyze local knowledge. This research also examines the physics material that can be taught and experiments that can be carried out using this media. Based on the experiments that have been carried out, the prototype PLTMH made can produce a maximum turbine rotation of 5593 rpm and 2373 rpm for connected and unconnected conditions with a dynamo on a turbine variation of 18 blades and a water level of 45 cm. The maximum electric power generated is 0.78 W with a maximum voltage of 8.72 V and an electric current of 0.09A. The resulting mechanical efficiency ranges from 21% - 56%, depending on the type of turbine and the amount of water flow. In this final project, a STEM-based physics learning implementation design was also made using the PLTMH prototype. Concepts of physics that can be taught with this media includes rotational motion mechanics, dynamic fluids, energy and energy changes as well as related to renewable energy sources. In the experiment, students can observe and analyze the effect of height on the electrical energy produced and look for the system efficiency on two different number of blades of the turbines and their effect on the energy produced. text
