Engine out taxi in is used in taxi in operation by operating only one engine. Garuda Indonesia aim to apply this operation to their Boeing 737-800 fleet in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The objective of this undergraduate thesis is to give recommendation for Garuda Indonesia about the aircraft configuration in conducting engine out taxi in. Those configurations are determined by conducting a study in pneumatic, hydraulic, dan electrical system based on the manufacturer documents; Boeing Operations Technical Bulletin, Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), and Flight Crew Operations Manual (FCOM) of Boeing 737-800. The selection of the configurations is to make sure that the systems operate in normal condition and provide the necessary services for save operation. From six configuration candidates, there are three configurations that Garuda Indonesia can implement. Each potential fuel saving of the three configurations is evaluated by collecting fuel flow data, which will be calculated by using analytical method based on Gas Turbine Performance and Aircraft Propulsion and Gas Turbine Engines books. The APU fuel flow data is also collected. The result shows that in 1 year Boeing 737-800 can save significant amount of fuel that justifies the effectiveness of engine eout taxi in operation |
