CST Software is a tool that can be used for evaluating performance of the radar without need any experiment. The modelling of the radar and nose radome can be done with software like Catia or Solidworks. Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering Students in ITB have not used CST software so hopefully this research will open more path for modelling and simulating radar.
The results of this research show that the shape of the nose radome and the antenna position relatively to the nose radome can affect the transmission. From the simulation results, the average of differences of the beamwidth, beam deflection, and side lobe level for the N219 are 49%, 0.15 dB, and 13.98 dB. For the NC212, the differences are 41%, 0.09 dB, and 2.29 dB. These two aircraft has similar results, except the differences of the side lobe level.
The differences between experiment and simulation results of beamwidth, beam deflection, and side lobe level for N219 are 0-87%, 0.01-16.00 dB, and 0.00-31.60 dB. The results of the experiments are better as the model used on the simulation was not close enough to the reality.
