Summary: | The Covid-19 pandemic that began in 2020 led people to change the way of how people live
and their building environment, including offices. Office buildings in big cities in Indonesia
generally use air conditioning and artificial lighting, and it can cause office buildings as a
cluster with highest spread and caused of diseases for occupants if they do not use the
healthy building strategies, both in the short and long term, one of the diseases is known as
Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). Air conditioning in office buildings consumes a lot of energy
and damages the environment. The passive design strategy is the ideal design approach for
today's offices. The passive design strategies are the regulation of wind pressure for natural
ventilation through the shape of the mass, the surface of the building envelope, the position
of the openings, the regulation of wind flow for surface cooling through the addition of wind
catching fins and double skin facade (DSF), installation of sun shading according to the
orientation of the sun to avoid heat, installation of insulation, and installation of light
shelves for the distribution of natural light that makes building occupants healthy in an
energy efficient building. The design process for this office building which has a floor area
of 225940 m2 and is located in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta uses digital simulation using
Autodesk CFD 2021 and Rhinoceros 7 software with the Grasshopper plug in, plus the
Honeybee 0.0.66 plug in with the help of OpenStudio 2.9.0 + Energyplus 9.3.0 and Radiance
5.2 as design tools that are able to demonstrate the performance of a healthy and energyefficient office which includes adequate ventilation to reduce dust or pollutants and
humidity or improve room air quality. The search for final design is carried out in stages
from macro to micro, from the shape of the mass, orientation, shape of the envelope, the
position of the atrium, arrangement of wind catching fins, openings, to the installation of a
light shelf. The results of the design show that the application of passive strategies in the
office building has adequate ventilation and good lighting levels throughout the room
without using excessive conditioning |
