Description
Summary:The IX-104 aircraft is a multirole aircraft which is currently in the development process. The aircraft has several systems to support its missions. One of the secondary systems used in the aircraft is the Life Support System (LSS). However, the IX-104 aircraft so far has not been assessed for its safety at system level and does not have maintenance tasks yet. Therefore, a safety assessment and analysis of LSS failures are necessary to determine the required maintenance tasks. LSS has 6 main Line Replaceable Units (LRU), namely the Oxygen Concentrator (OC), Breathing Regulator & Anti-G Valve (BRAG), Backup & Emergency Oxygen Supply (BEOS), Plenum, Pilot Interface Connector (PIC) and Seat Interface Connector (SIC). The functional failures effects of the LSS were assessed, classified, and verified using the FHA, PSSA, and SSA method. The maintenance tasks of those 6 LRUs were determined using the MSG-3 method for selected failure modes. The safety assessment process indicated some functional failures which have a catasthropic category, namely “cannot produce oxygen” with the failure mode “sieve bed valve does not discharge air”, “oxygen cannot be supplied to pilot” with the failure mode “plenum tube leakage”, and “decrease of air pressure supply for anti-g suit” with the failure mode “BRAG pressure coontroller error”. Furthermore, the result of maintenance tasks determination for the 6 LRUs are Discard/Replacement for OC, Functional/Inspection Check for BRAG, Discard/Replacement for BEOS, Operational/Visual Check for Plenum, Functional/Inspection Check for PIC, and Functional/Inspection Check for SIC.
