This vascular plant is not widely used except for decoration. But, due to the development of knowledge, it is found that bryophytes contain many bioactive compound that have health benefits hence it can be utilized as raw material for supplement production. Lipid is one of the compound that is essential for human as a few of them can’t be synthetize in the human body such as omega 3 and 6. In this research, the cultivation is elicited using methyl jasmonate (100 ?M) to increase fatty acid yield. Harvesting is done each week for 5 weeks to obtain growth curve, whereas for the determination of fatty acid profile and concentration using GC MS, harvest is done after the culture were 21 days old. The extraction is conducted using Soxhlet with hexane solvent. The growth rate obtain for the control culture is faster than the growth rate for the elicited culture that are sequentially 0,01385 and 0,00642 gram/day. The decreasing growth rate is followed by the increasing yield of fatty acid from 15,7 mg/g dry weight fatty acid in control culture and 30,8 mg/g dry weight in MeJa elicitated culture. The most abundance fatty acid found in T. kerianum cells is oleic acid with 49% from the total fatty acid concentration. With methyl jasmonate elicitation, this number decreases to 42%. Whereas methyl palmitate increased from 5% to 22% after the elicitation. text
